Monday - Park Guell and Sagrada Familia

Today was a public holiday in Spain - and our day to explore Antoni Gaudi's artwork in Barcelona.  Our first stop was Park Guell...........we caught the metro and then had a bit of a walk, mostly up hills and steps and it was at quite a pace as our tickets were for entry at 10am.  Poor mum! Still, we made it and it was well worth it.

Yup, the boys have had enough and think it is time to head off for a play, lunch and our stroll to Sagrada Familia - another of Gaudi's works and Barcelona's most famous attraction.

La Sagrada Familia is one of Gaudí's most famous works in Barcelona. It's a giant Basilica that has been under construction since 1882 (that's not a typing error) and it's not expected to be completed for some time yet - another 10 years our guide said........but what an amazing place.  We did a tour and it is certainly much more enlightening when your are taken around and someone explains it all to you - what a great experience.

The pictures here do not do it justice! You really do have to come and see it for yourselves -

Being a tourist is exhausting - mind you we were walking between 15,000 and 20,000 steps per day -

This was pretty cool - all numbers add up to the same number whether you add them up across, down or diagonal!

We had also had a dinner recommendation from a friend of Dean and Emma's - Telerific - a tapas bar with amazing passionfruit mojitos - perfect!  The kids got to have non-alcoholic ones!

Great recommendation - the food was great.  A perfect last nights dining to end our trip to Barcelona.  One more day to go as we do not train out until 4.45pm and the experience that the little boys have been waiting for - FC Barcelona Stadium Tour!
