Les Baux

Today we were heading to show Dean, Emma and mum one of our favourite place - Les Baux.
Les Baux is only one hour away and we wanted to arrive around 9.30am so it was a relaxed start to our day! We arrived on time and found a great park and as the shops were open we decided to explore the myriad of streets and shops.  I did not get to do much shop exploring last time so this was exciting.  Found a few treasures to buy and found a really cool cheese and olive shop.  The owner was very welcoming and Dean and Emma were busy trying all the olives and then we all tried his truffle pate - delish! He then offered us a cheese tasting and so we were off down the back to try these very yummy cheeses - France is good! We liked all of them and said we would be back later to get some to take home………….there was a truffle cheese, a salty cheese and the local area goat cheese - all of which we were keen to buy! We then explored some more shops, the chapels and it was then time to go to the castle as the trebuchet firing was about to happen.

So up to the castle we went - both Dean and Karl were volunteered to assist with the loading of the trebuchet which was funny for the rest of us and hard work for them and we all enjoyed the firing show! We then explored the castle for the next few hours - the views were amazing and it was great to share what we had found with Dean, Emma and Bub.  It was then after 1pm and we were hungry.  We had not found a restaurant that looked better than the one we had gone to last time and so we headed back to our favourite again.  It was salads all around for the adults, Loki got pizza as usual and Connor got the Enfant menu deal - perfect.  We then all got crepes for dessert - perfect!
Walking up to Les Baux - exciting! Stunning views before you even get there.......................

A great little church:-

Our favourite shops and where we spent the most money - yumo cheeses!

More great shots in and around this great town

At 11 am it was time for the firing - here is Dean and Karl working hard: -

More exploring, climbing, great views - such an impressive place

More shots of our favourite cheese store -

A cheese store that sells wine - what could be more perfect!

We brought our cheeses and treats and it was then time for more shopping - and time to head to the luminaries and I could not wait! I felt that when I last visited I did not have enough time there and could not wait to go back and show the others a place that I had tried to explain but was really unexplainable!  It is like an art show projected on all walls, roofs and the ground with surround sound and it is staged in a huge quarry - amazing! Everyone loved it and it was a great end to our Les Baux experience.
A new favourite place for everyone!!!!

Brothers in arms strolling to the luminaries
