Day 1 - Roussillon - a most beautiful ochre town............

ROUSSILLON - It is considered one of the most impressive villages in France - Roussillon is one of the "must-sees"

Situated in the heart of one of the biggest ochre deposits in the world, Roussillon is famous for its magnificent red cliffs and ochre quarries.  The red, yellow and brown shades of the earth form a striking contrast with the lush green pinetrees. The vivid blue of the Provençal sky and the exceptional quality of light make this a magical site.

As soon as we arrived in the village of Roussillon, its atmosphere of relaxed vibe and chill feel was evident. We strolled around the picturesque maze of streets and squares and the kids got ice-creams which they love - Loki got banana chocolate while Connor got nutella!  The ochre façades of the houses are magnificent... shades vary subtly from light yellow to dark red, set off by the brightly painted shutters and doors. From the base of the village to the summit of the Castrum and its splendid view, Roussillon is a delightful place to visit!  Loki was quite taken by the sun dial - this could tell you the time and he explored this with Karl and Connor while I explored the shops - perfect.

I took loads of pictures here - the colours were just so amazing - one of my favourite places!
The cliffs where the amazing colours originate from

The sun dial that captures Loki

The beautiful colours of the orche cliffs in houses

The bell tower - and more colours

The huge walls and tiny doors capture my interest

As did this display of art capturing the colours beautifully

The boys chilling.....................

Up we go - to where we do not know!

I adore these lights that seem to be everywhere in Provence...........................

Just a gorgeous shot I had to add it.......................

The green growing from within.............................

The rawness of the cliffs.......................

Down we go.......................

Someones effort to put some greenery in their balcony!

Love this place.................................................
