Day 2 - Pont du Gard

An amazing place to be - to think - and to imagine 2000 years ago!
The essential poser photograph......................
Pont du Gard - spectacular and one of the must see in Provence - this dates back to the beginning of the Coon Era (50AD) and is the tallest Roman bridge-aqueduct int he world standing at 48 metres high.   2000 years ago it was designed to convey water to Nimes and shows the extraordinary know-how of Roman engineers - this would be a hugely difficult undertaking even with today's technology! It was staggering to see in person and to explore and sit in wonderment!

The ratbags - they could not wait to run around and explore once we had walked to this side of the bridge-aqueduct.

taken from a different angle to try and show the immense size........................

Said to the boys - "take a silly one - not the best idea near water and you can see by Karl's face that he feels like he is going in the water - oops - would have made an epic photo!
Pont du gard - perfect and serene! I bet it is mad during peak tourist season.
