16th April - Marseille day

Today was the day for haircuts for Karl and Connor.  Connor was very reluctant to get his haircut as he likes it long, but dad managed to convince him he could still have the "swish" but needed a trim.  There was a hairdresses just down the road so off they went.............................................................. wash and a cut and all done! Hairdresser was a bit rough, and I won't be going there, but all good!

Then it was time to get ready to head to one of the islands, Chataeu D'If, the island made famous by the book The Count of Monte Cristo.  Unfortunately, while it was beautiful in town and sea around the island was a bit rough, so no trips today.

So, change of plan - exploring Marseille and taking Karl to see some of the treasured spots we find during the week! Going to the nespresso shop for more coffee and to the information centre to get the map and more information about hiking in the calanques.

Then it was time to check out some shops and catch the tram to Palais Longchamp for a picnic and to show Karl around.  Then we headed to Cours Julien which I had been trying to find, we found it but it was a bit dodgy so pleased we found it with Karl, won't be heading back there!

Then we decided that we would head back to the port for a drinks on the waterfront! Then home for a wee rest before heading down for a family game of petanque.

Drinks at the port..................beautiful!

Competitive Karl just checking things out.......................
Perfect location for a petanque court - gorgeous!
Fun cruisy family day - hitting the islands tomorrow!
