Palais Longchamp and Date night

On Monday me, mum and the boys decided to ride the bus and tram and head to Palais Longchamp.
Here is mum standing outside this amazing church, St Vincent De Pauls in Marseille which is on the way to Palais Longchamp.

Such a beautiful church both inside and out............................

We then carried on up to the palais and park showing mum around the grounds and buildings and letting the kids run and play on the grass.
Lunch at a restaurant near the Palais was a very interesting experience.  We decided to stop for drinks and to order some entrees to try a range of food.  The one item we all really wanted was tempura courgette however this had sold out; so we ordered two potato dishes that we had seen; one fish dish and one ham dish.  It ended up being a bit of a disaster.................... What we got was one potato dish (quite yum), one egg dish (not very nice) and two fish dishes (raw fish dishes I might add).  I sent one of the fish dishes back but we decided not to stress about the egg vs ham dish and just try the dishes we had.  Needless to say we were all pretty hungry after we finished our lunch.  The kids have been awesome trying lots of different foods and generally we have enjoyed everything however not today......................... and so we headed to the trusty McDonalds for a lunch we knew and a bit of retail therapy!!!!! Any excuse to shop...............

We then went searching for fishing rods as the boys are keen to fish at the wharf...............no luck today, maybe tomorrow.

Good day spent exploring and cruising on public transport.

That night and it was time for another date night.  Karl and I headed across the port to check out the action.  We could hear the football supporters and continue to be amazed by the amount of police personnel, vans and water cannon machines.  Here is a photo of me by the water cannon truck.

No trouble while we were out and about - another great French dinner, much more successful than lunch! Loving these date nights with the hubby. we even managed to have drinks while sitting out on the balcony of a bar - yay.  We have often been to this bar, but never managed to get a seat outside......perfect! Evening stroll home and another date night done and dusted.
